Prégabaline, also known as β-isobutyl-γ-Aminobutyric acid (β-isobutyl-GABA) et vendu sous le nom commercial Lyrica entre autres, is a medication used to in the treatment of epilepsy, douleur neuropathique, fibromyalgie et trouble anxieux généralisé. Son utilisation dans l'épilepsie est en tant que traitement d'appoint des crises partielles avec ou sans généralisation secondaire chez l'adulte.
La prégabaline est un analogue structurel du neurotransmetteur GABA, consequently it belongs to the γ-Aminobutyric acid analogue class of antiepileptic drugs. C'est un modulateur de canal ionique qui a un analgésique, anticonvulsivant, sédatif, et propriétés anxiolytiques. La prégabaline est un gabapentinoïde puissant et un analogue proche de GABOB (β-hydroxy-GABA), baclofène (β-(4-chlorophényle)-GABA), et phénibut (β-phenyl-GABA).
Pregabalin is indicated for:
1. Treatment of neuropathic pain from diabetic neuropathy or post herpetic neuralgia. There is not enough data to state that it should be used in all neuropathic pain.
2. Adjunctive therapy in adults with partial seizures with or without secondary generalization
3. Fibromyalgia
4. Generalized anxiety disorder
5. Alcohol Withdrawal
