Clobetasol propionate is a glucocorticoid used to treat a variety of skin conditions, including eczema and psoriasis. It is also very effective in contact with dermatitis/oak-induced contact dermatitis. Clobetasol belongs to the United States (Europe: Class IV) corticosteroids, making it one of the most effective drugs. It appears in shampoos, mousses, ointments and body lotions. It is very effective and should not be used with closed dressings or extended for extended use (more than two weeks). It is also used to treat several autoimmune diseases, including alopecia areata, vitiligo, and lichen planus (autoimmune skin nodules).
